At least until August 1, 2018, the detention of Dennis Christensen, a Dane who has been detained for about 9 months in the remand prison because of his religion of Jehovah’s Witnesses, has been prolonged. The decision to extend the arrest on February 22, 2018 was taken by Alexei Rudnev, a judge of the Zheleznodorozhny District Court of the city of Orel.
Meanwhile, on February 26, 2018, the beginning of the main hearings on the criminal case against Denis Christensen was scheduled. He is accused of continuing the activities of the organization of Jehovah’s Witnesses, which was liquidated by the court. In fact, Christensen has nothing to do with this organization. He only used the right that “everyone” is guaranteed by the Constitution of the Russian Federation, namely the right to have religious beliefs and act in accordance with them.
