RT-2UTTKh ‘Topol-M’ missiles arrived in Moscow Friday amid a military convoy. The missiles will be stored in a military base at Alabino until they are rolled out for Victory Day celebrations May 9. Weighing 50 tonnes, the Topol M missiles travelled 400 kilometres (248 miles) from Russia’s Ivanovo region. When the convoy crossed the border of Moscow proper, missile specialists were met and blessed by a Russian Orthodox priest. The RT-2UTTKh ‘Topol-M’ is Russia’s most recent intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), developed after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. Its maximum range is estimated to be around 10,500 kilometres (6,525 miles).
