The images from this mosaic were taken by Curiosity&#8217;s 2-megapixel MastCams and released on Aug. 27.\u00a0Danish photographer\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/panoramas.dk\/about-nyberg.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hans Nyberg<\/a>\u00a0used NASA&#8217;s data to create the immersive version seen above.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 1em 0px; outline: none; padding: 0px\">Best viewed in full-screen mode, the interactive panorama is adjusted to show how the Martian surface would appear if lit under Earth-like brightness and colors. This helps geologists at JPL identify important features that they might otherwise miss if looking at the images as they appear on Mars. Nyberg also added a bit more sky to the interactive version. You can see the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/images\/content\/681008main_pia16101-20000px.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">original raw panorama<\/a>\u00a0corrected for lighting conditions on Mars (warning: large file).<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 1em 0px; outline: none; padding: 0px\">Curiosity has had a busy early mission on Mars, testing its various systems, wheels, and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wired.com\/wiredscience\/2012\/08\/before-and-after-chemcam\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">laser-shooting capabilities<\/a>.
