The petition \u201clet your Kingdom come\u201d is widely known around the globe, especially in lands that profess to be Christian. But how many people really know what they are asking for when they make that request in prayer? Would they repeat those words so readily if they knew that the coming of God\u2019s Kingdom means the execution of judgment against all earthly governments and the destruction of all opposers of that Kingdom?\u2014Dan. 2:44;<\/a>\u00a0Luke 19:27<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The relevance of these questions is heightened by three important facts: (1)\u00a0God\u2019s Kingdom was established in 1914, with Jesus enthroned as King. (Rev. 12:10<\/a>) (2)\u00a0We are living in the last days of the present system of things. (Matt. 24:3;<\/a>\u00a02\u00a0Tim. 3:1-5<\/a>) (3)\u00a0No government or political party on earth has truly recognized God\u2019s Kingdom or yielded to its sovereignty. (Ps. 2:2,\u00a03;<\/a>\u00a0Rev. 11:17,\u00a018<\/a>) Why has God\u2019s Kingdom been ignored? Do not many people yearn for better government, and is not much time and effort spent in trying to patch up and improve current rule? Yes, but most do not realize whom they are up against and how much control that one exerts.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The Bible clearly tells us that \u201cthe whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one\u201d and that he, \u201cthe one called Devil and Satan, .\u00a0.\u00a0. is misleading the entire inhabited earth.\u201d (1\u00a0John 5:19;<\/a>\u00a0Rev. 12:9<\/a>) By cleverly blinding people to the point that many do not even believe he exists, Satan is able to maneuver the majority of mankind into rejecting God\u2019s Kingdom and opposing His rule. (2\u00a0Cor. 4:4<\/a>) That is where we as Jehovah\u2019s Witnesses come in. We have the privilege of opening the eyes of people, \u201cto turn them from darkness to light and from the authority of Satan to God.\u201d (Acts 26:18<\/a>) Today, almost eight million individuals\u00a0are working together in unity to accomplish that task. How delighted we are to be counted worthy of being entrusted with that assignment!\u2014Matt. 28:19,\u00a020<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

No, we will not convert the world. Indeed, Jesus declared that the majority of mankind would not find \u201cthe road leading off into life.\u201d Rather, they would continue on \u201cthe road leading off into destruction.\u201d (Matt. 7:13,\u00a014<\/a>) Jesus foretold that the \u201cgood news of the Kingdom [would] be preached in all the inhabited earth for a\u00a0witness<\/span>\u00a0to all the nations\u201d before the end comes. (Matt. 24:14<\/a>) By referring to Noah\u2019s day, Jesus helped us to appreciate how people would react to our preaching activity. Although Noah was \u201ca preacher of righteousness,\u201d the people did not listen to his warning of impending destruction. \u201cThey took no note until the Flood came and swept them all away.\u201d (2\u00a0Pet. 2:5;<\/a>\u00a0Matt. 24:37-39<\/a>) Today, only those who are righteously disposed heed the warning. They listen to the good news of God\u2019s Kingdom, realizing that \u201cit is, in fact, God\u2019s power for salvation to everyone having faith.\u201d\u2014Rom. 1:16<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Satanic control of the earth will soon be gone. Man will no longer \u2018dominate man to his detriment.\u2019 (Eccl. 8:9<\/a>) The many discordant rulerships of today will be replaced with one government\u2014God\u2019s Kingdom under the rulership of Jesus Christ. (Isa. 9:7;<\/a>\u00a0Dan. 7:13, 14;<\/a>\u00a0Rev. 11:15<\/a>) But peace, justice, and righteousness will not be the only hallmarks of that perfect Kingdom rule. Our physical needs will also be fully cared for. (Ps. 72:16;<\/a>\u00a0145:16<\/a>) Even so, would we be content to have all these blessings if sickness and death yet awaited us? Kingdom rule will address these matters as well. God has decreed: \u201cI am making all things new.\u201d Sorrow and suffering will forever be things of the past. Yes, \u201cdeath will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.\u201d Praise be to our God!
