{"id":427,"date":"2010-09-02T06:21:31","date_gmt":"2010-09-02T03:21:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jwforum.net\/news\/2010\/09\/02\/trapped-chilean-miner-grateful-to-jehovah-2\/"},"modified":"2022-12-19T21:32:14","modified_gmt":"2022-12-19T18:32:14","slug":"trapped-chilean-miner-grateful-to-jehovah-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jwforum.net\/portal\/trapped-chilean-miner-grateful-to-jehovah-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Trapped Chilean miner grateful to Jehovah"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: justify\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify\">Samuel Acu\u00f1a Avalos, one of the 33 miners trapped in a copper and gold mine in Copiap\u00f3, Chile, is seen in this undated photo received by Reuters on August 24, 2010.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify\">In a press report published Tuesday, August 24th 2010, one of the 33 miners trapped in a copper and gold mine in Copiap\u00f3, Chile, says he gives thanks to Jehovah, after being found alive with his co-workers.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify\">\u00a0<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/sharonsparadise.files.wordpress.com\/2010\/08\/samuel_avalos.jpg?w=227&#038;h=300 \" border=\"0\" width=\"227\" height=\"299\" \/><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify\">The head of an investigative research committee, Alejandro Garc\u00eda-Huidobro, reported, \u201cI saw the messages of the miners, each writing a letter to his family, telling them that are all well.\u201d<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify\">He continued: \u201cI just spoke with Mrs. Ruth (Guzm\u00e1n), wife of Samuel Avalos and I was fortunate and privileged to see his letter, first, that his health is very well, and second, that he thanks \u2018Jehovah, my God Jehovah,\u2019 he says they are all alive, \u2018a hug, a greeting to all my family and do not worry, we\u2019re going to get out and a special kiss to my Carolina,\u2019 which is his little nine-year-old girl\u201d, he said.<\/div>\n<p> <!--more--> <\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify\">The miners appear to be organized and following the instructions of their team leader. \u00a0At the time they were found, they had been living on extremely small rations of food doled out amongst themselves every 48 hours. \u00a0Now, however, they are beginning to receive more nutritious food lowered through narrow plastic tubes called \u201cpalomas\u201d (doves or pigeons). \u00a0The tubes are also being used to supply the workers with medical supplies as well as communications equipment. \u00a0As of this writing, it has not yet been possible to establish audio communication with the workers, but written notes have been passed back and forth through the tubing system.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify\">Yahoo news reports, \u201cthe plan is now to dig a new shaft to enable the trapped miners to escape, which will take months.
