The association condemned Russia\u2019s systematic campaign of oppression against our brothers in an open letter addressed to President Vladimir Putin on May\u00a016, 2021.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5468\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5468\" style=\"width: 1200px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-5468 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/jwforum.net\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/imgs-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jwforum.net\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/imgs-1.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/jwforum.net\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/imgs-1-768x384.jpg 768w, https:\/\/jwforum.net\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/imgs-1-300x150.jpg 300w, https:\/\/jwforum.net\/portal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/imgs-1-560x280.jpg 560w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5468\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site and the open letter to President Putin<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p id=\"p3\" class=\"p3 disableActiveState jsHasHighlightListener\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-pid=\"3\">\u201cNot a day passes on which there is no report of state repression against Jehovah\u2019s Witnesses,\u201d the letter explains. \u201cThe homes of members of the religious denomination are searched and ravaged by the Russian secret service, FSB, and the police. Violent assaults and mistreatment occur. Women and men are condemned to long-term prison sentences. Requests to ease detention conditions or for parole are regularly refused.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"p4\" class=\"p4 disableActiveState jsHasHighlightListener\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-pid=\"4\">The letter concludes: \u201cWe urge you to grant every resident of the Russian Federation the constitutional right to free exercise of religion. Please end this injustice!\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"p5\" class=\"p5 disableActiveState jsHasHighlightListener\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-pid=\"5\">As of May\u00a02021, there are 61 Witnesses\u00a0imprisoned for their faith\u00a0in Russia. This includes elderly ones, such as Sister\u00a0Valentina Baranovskaya, aged 70, who is currently serving a two-year sentence. She suffered a stroke in July\u00a02020. A court denied her appeal and that of her son, Roman Baranovskiy, who is serving six years, on\u00a0May\u00a024, 2021.<\/p>\n<p id=\"p6\" class=\"p6 disableActiveState jsHasHighlightListener\" style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-pid=\"6\">We appreciate the words of fair-minded observers who publicly call for the end of the injustice our brothers and sisters are facing in Russia.
