The three back-to-back explosions were initially suspected to be a terror attack but later declared to be the alleged handiwork of a disgruntled former member of Jehovah’s Witnesses. (PTI)
KOCHI: The death toll in bomb blasts in Kerala’s Kalamassery has gone up to five with the death of a 45-year-old woman on Saturday night.
Reena Pradeepan alias Sally, wife of Pradeepan in Malayattoor Neeleeswaram panchayat succumbed to burn injuries she sustained in the blasts during the Jehovah’s Witnesses Convention on October 29.
Sally, who suffered 66 per cent of burns, died at 10.7pm at a private hospital. Sally’s 12-year-old daughterLibna succumbed to burn injuries sustained in the blasts, next day morning.
She arrived at the convention with her two sons, Libna and family members. Her two sons also got injured in the blasts. One of them is in ventilator support as he suffered 60 percent burns.
Meanwhile, 18 people who suffered burn injuries in the blasts are still undergoing treatment in various hospitals in Ernakulam.
